Products / Kenyan Salt Pot
We are not sure what is more endearing about this wood salt pot, it’s beauty or it’s story. Farmers in Kenya saved the stumps of trees that were cut down decades earlier and taught local herdsman to carve bowls and spoons from the aged wood. The workshop is wherever the herdsman sit chipping away, while watching the sheep and cattle in the field. The carvers use machetes, chisels, and other homemade tools, then finish the piece with broken glass bottles and sandpaper to smooth the beautiful wood. Each piece is unique, truly a treasure and breaks the cycle of poverty worldwide.
